CommunityThe saddest three days of the whole year are the final days of NYSMF Sessions 1, 2, and 3. Two, four, or six weeks of exciting music culminate in an exhilerating final three days of solid concert-giving, ending with the glorious 200-plus-voice All-NYSMF Choir around 9:30pm on those wonderfully bittersweet final notes of the summer. Back in olden times, when I was in music camp, you would huddle in the back seat of your parent's car, covered in joyfully sad tears, holding as tightly as possible to the weeks of fantastic NYSMF memories as Oneonta recedes behind you. You return home and write letter after letter to all your new friends, who, after 2, 4, or 6 weeks of music camp, seem as close as your oldest friends, and wait breathlessly for return mail every day until school starts after Labor Day.
WELL, NO LONGER!

We also have presences on MySpace, Friendster, Xanga, etc., but why bother with all those sites when, as of today: The Facebook NYSMF group has more than 1100 members! Members from every year of NYSMF (2006 to present!) Thousands, even tens of thousands, of YOUR photographs in dozens upon dozens of albums, all tagged meticulously with everyone's names and profiles Boy, I wish we had the Internet when I was a young'un.
