Complete applications must be received via email by FEBRUARY 15 @ 11:59pm.

  1. Complete the Online NYSMF Application Form.
    • Enter the position for which you are applying into the NOTES field in section 1.
    • Staff: TA, SC, C.
    • Workstudy: CIT, or FA
  2. Download and complete the NYSMF 2013 STAFF APPLICATION FORM.
  3. Scan and email your completed forms to jobs@hoashi.com.
    • Be sure to include links to your required Performance Recordings in your email.
    • Teacher Recommendations may be emailed or faxed separately.

  • Live in festival dorms to supervise festival students
  • Serve as role models and mentors to festival students
  • Uphold, enforce, and follow all NYSMF rules & regulations

TEACHING ASSISTANTS (T.A.)

A limited number of Teaching Assistant positions are available to advanced college or graduate students who are extremely strong players and interested in developing their teaching skills.

Qualifications
  • Graduate school student
  • Extremely strong player
  • Experience & patience working with children
  • Professional interest in developing teaching skills
Responsibilities
  • Supervision of dormitories
  • Supervision of counseling staff
  • Coaching & performing in ensembles
  • Leading sectional rehearsals
  • Assisting faculty & conductors
  • Serving as head librarian for various ensembles
Duties

All NYSMF Staff members have the following duties:

  • Arrive early for training and preparation for the festival
  • Remain after the end of the festival to assist in cleanup and closing-down the festival

Counseling Positions are available for musicians and non-musicians to serve in leadership roles at NYSMF.

Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Completed at least one year of college
  • Patience working with younger students
Responsibilities
  • Supervising recreational activities and practice time
  • Providing a safe environment for students
  • Assisting faculty and administration with various duties
  • Serving as mentors to the students

All NYSMF Staff members have the following duties:

STAGE CREW (S.C.)

A limited number of positions are available for Stage Crew workers.

Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Qualify for a COUNSELOR position
  • Experience in technical theatre/backstage work
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all equipment used by the New York SQUIRREL Music Festivus, including maintenance, supervision, tracking, etc.
  • Report directly to the NYSMF administration
  • Work closely with our conductors and faculty members to ensure smooth rehearsals and performance
  • Setup and breakdown for all ensembles, rehearsals, and concerts
  • Earlier arrival and later departure dates than other staff members to participate in Festival setup, technical setup, and close-down
Duties

All NYSMF Staff members have the following duties:

  • Arrive early for training and preparation for the festival
  • Remain after the end of the festival to assist in cleanup and closing-down the festival
  • Attend all three sessions of the Festival
  • Live in festival dorms to supervise festival students

Requirements
  • Applicants must be entering their senior year of high school
  • Must arrive before the festival for training and preparation
  • Must attend all three sessions of the festival
  • Must fill out student applications along with the required employment applications
Responsibilities
  • Assist counseling staff with various duties including:
    • photocopying
    • part-marking for orchestra and band librarians
    • ushering for concerts
Duties

All NYSMF Staff members have the following duties:

  • Arrive early for training and preparation for the festival
  • Remain after the end of the festival to assist in cleanup and closing-down the festival (FAs & CITs excepted)
  • Attend all three sessions of the Festival
  • Live in festival dorms to supervise festival students
  • Serve as role models and mentors to festival students
  • Uphold, enforce, and follow all NYSMF rules & regulations

Requirements
  • Applicants must be 15 years of age or older

Responsibilities
  • Administrative, library, and/or technical assistants
  • Ushers for concerts
  • Must complete between four and eight hours of assigned duties per week
  • Must schedule employment around required rehearsals and performance obligations
  • Help office staff
  • Assist T.A.s with library duties
  • Various other activities are available according to qualifications
Duties
